Sunshine and Deckchairs – Adding sand…

Zoe Stallard, 26 December 202326 December 2023

After starting this piece back in October, I unfortunately soon found myself at a creative block. I got the outline completed, completed the sky, started on the sand, sea and deck chairs then stopped. A random free day found me adding real sand to the actual sand part of the piece which I thought would mark the end of the block but it didnt and here we are 2 months later no further forwards.

I’m hoping going into 2024 I will find the time again which will give me the kick to get out of this creative block. But I think a lot of people will agree that when life gets busy, whether that is with home or work life; something will have to give and unfortunately this for me was my creative side but we move.

Now…going back to the sand, I was so surprised at how this turned out. Firstly I painted on a block colour similar to that of sand, then whilst this was still wet I sprinkled on the sand. After completing this I found it wasn’t solid looking enough so I completed the step again by painting over the sand and then adding more sand which worked a treat. I was so happy with the outcome which you can see below. Fingers crossed for a completed piece in the early part of 2024 and my first piece of Artwork to add to my shop!
